Thursday 11th April – Music Night

MusicNightApril2019

Another wonderful night of music where our 8 patrons left with smiles, giggles, chit chats and much gratitude.  Our trio always bring something new to ‘the gig’, tonight there was new material, Geoff’s guitar work shone and one can never tire listening to Deb’s gorgeous voice, even Johnno stretched his vocal cords.  Plus their ‘music trivia’ were residents have to ‘name that tune’ always find one wrestling with their ‘tips of tongue’ is always fun.  Residents success rate averages, approx 90%, yay.

Thursday 28th March – Music Night

MarMusicNight3

We had an attendance of 10 guests which was smaller in numbers although spirits were high.  Comments such as “great night” and “enjoyed it” were shared but it was the all-round smiles, laughter and the ‘sing-a-longs’ that were telling of how much residents enjoyed our trio.  Again ex-resident patient Mick and carer wife Deb, who were with us about 8 months ago, came to jam with our musos again, (having done so pre Xmas).  Mick with his great mop of hair had bragged this time about having to have his first cut-and what a joy it was.  Their participation in our music night is their way of saying ‘thank you’ to Ryder-Cheshire, and shows how much our residents value the music nights. Thanks again to our wonderful, talented and much valued trio for bringing us together and for sharing the healing power of community and music.

Sunday 17th March – Annual Volunteers Luncheon

The Committee extended a warm welcome to volunteers who able to attend.  This year we were again fortunate with the weather; a superb, warm, sunny 28C˚ day!

Everyone enjoyed a delicious lunch with an extra special mention given to the Portuguese Tarts!

Volunteers who were unable to attend… we look forward to seeing you next year!

Saturday 2nd March 2019 – Quilts, Art & Bric-A-Brac Sale & Display

Music night is always so rewarding seeing the residents faces light up.  As per usual lots of laughter and lifting of spirits was experienced.  Our delightful trio never disappoint, and are a very important part of the Ryder-Cheshire family. Marty, one of our residents, ‘blew people away’ with his impromptu performance on the night.

24th January Music Night

The first of our 2019 Music Nights saw the biggest attendance we have had, it was full house with 26 in attendance. It was lovely seeing our dedicated trio of musicians all geared up and excited for another year, while residents were lining up at the door! Special mention was for Michael (& Debbie Welsh) who was a patient/resident/carer  at Ryder some 7 months ago, came for the night to ‘jam’ on ‘snare drum’. He looked fabulous, fighting fit, with a great mop of hair, and having introduced him to the current residents was a great source of inspiration, faith & hope for residents. Also we were extremely pleased to  see Marty back in fine form, so much so two lady patients could not resist getting up to dance, which bought much applause, smiles & laughter all round.  So it was another successful fun night! Some residents comments: Excellent, fabulous, uplifting of spirits, brilliant & many thank you (s) with one couple who mentioned they rushed home from their dinner so they could join in on our night, is a lovely compliment.
